I will never join another religion (been there done that) but I do attend a non-denominational church once a week. My experience is similar to Gordy's. There is no pressure, no control, no beating me over the head with the Bible. There is a sense of freedom and peace that being a JW never gave me. I'm open minded to the beliefs of others and I feel the joy of being out of the WTS and living my own life. - V Sky

How many have left the WTS and joined another church/group?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inat this point in my life i don't think i could trust any religious group.
i don't even feel the need to be a part of anything like that right now, and maybe never will.. but i know of some who have joined other churches/groups since leaving the borg.. why do some join another religion and why won't some ever get involved again?.
what makes us so different?.

Your experience as a man, as a woman in the JWs...
by Country Girl ini was wondering today.
my own experience with the jw's started when i was 3 years old.
at 8, i began to experience the misogynystical attitude that characterized being a jw woman, and was really adverse to it.

Interesting CG, I had an elder admit to me that women were treated like second class citizens in the borg and that's when I realized that some brothers hated the society's view of women and of course most were all for it. What I resented most was the constant 'don't be like Jezebel' - she was a murderer and a whore, I didn't know any sister that came close to that description. There was zero emphasis on the strong women of bible times like Deborah, think she was a judge or a prophetess. We barely heard a peep about her, yet Jezebel was mentioned over and over again. The environment the borg has created breeds men who are weak and women who may never know their true potential. I feel sorry for them. - V Sky

Why Aren't Jehovah's Witnesses Allowed To Freely Express Themselves?
by minimus init's a simple fact.
jw's cannot freely express themselves.
they can't freely tell another about a doubt or a question that they might have for fear they could be exposed to the elders.

Scholar, too bad they don't teach Common Sense in college or Humility 101. For your information my puffed up friend, I've got 2 college degrees too. One of them is in Psychology and buddy I gotta tell ya, you've got a few issues. You've got an elaborate denial system in place but then again, what good JW doesn't? And a superiority complex the GB would be proud of. I suggest you come down from your self erected pedestal and use the brain God gave you. There are people on this board who you and I can learn a lot from. So show them a little respect. And the fact that you have to put your titles down is so sad, do you think Jesus gives a damn what degrees you have? Do you remind God in prayer that you're a scholar or do you think the Almighty is just a tad smarter than you? - V Sky

"Already There," by Lonestar - makes me cry, beautiful words. "Drops of Jupiter" by Train, except for the bit about fried chicken, I think it's poetry. - V Sky

Jehovah's Witnesses Are Pedophile Protectors!!!!!
by TipToe inyou people make me want to throw up!!!!
in the last 2 years, i have met three people ages 18, 25 and 34, two girls and one guy who are ex-jehovah's witnesses ( thank god!
) and who have told me their horror stories concerning being molested in your congregation and no action was taken against their aggressors.

Disgusted, it's ok, you were just saying what all of us feel. It is sickening the way the JWs smuggly look down on the Catholic Church's appalling record with abuse and kids yet don't acknowledge the problems within the WTS. Personally I think all child abusers should be castrated without anesthesia - V Sky

If it's a little thing, I let it go. If it's something that really hurts me or someone I love, I think about the person's motivation, was it malicious? or was it just a really dumb mistake on their part? I'm not good at holding grudges so I let the person know what they did and try my best to move on. If it was something horrific don't know what I would do. My empathy to those of you who have been abused by someone in a position of trust. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to forgive let alone forget that. - V Sky

I can't do it anymore.
by Gadget inpeople who've been reading my posts will know i've been trying to get reinstated so i can get back together with my girlfriend/fiance.
the more time goes on, the less i feel able to do that.
all the things i hear from the platform, and the things that elders have said to me just reinforce the fact that i want nothing at all to do with this organisation anymore.

Gadget, jeez I'm so sorry for what you're going through. She sounds bloody awful. To say that she prefers if you'd cheated on her, how sick is that? That you're worse than her ex who beat and raped her - what the hell? I mean her thinking is totally warped. She's gonna kill herself - how unstable is this woman? Then to call all your friends and try to control you through them by getting them to pressure you and bully you into returning to that crazy religion? I want to know where did her love go? How can she claim to love you one day then do this to you the next? I think you dodged a bullet, she doesn't need a husband, she needs a therapist. You're going to find a woman who will offer you unconditional love and bring peace to your life. And if the business partners bail on you due to your beliefs, yeah, sue 'em, fight for what's yours. Please keep us updated so that we know how you're doing. - V Sky

Do you regret ever getting baptized
by ikhandi inthousand of witnesses do it every year and for what they believe are good reasons.
i did it because i was pressured by elders.
its interesting to note how elders can target young people into committing their life to something they really know nothing about.

I've never regretted anything more. I got baptized at 16, nobody pressured me, I believed everything I was taught. Now my choice makes leaving more complicated due to family ties. You know it's funny, the thought that I was breaking my vow to God kept me in for 2 more years. I had never made a vow before and I wanted to be a person of my word. Now, I know that I didn't break away from God. I broke away from a control freak, blood guilty organization and I'll never regret that. - V Sky
